USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service puts out new Longleaf Pine Initiative Fact Sheet

A new fact sheet has been produced on the Longleaf Pine Initiative by USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service. The initiative supports goals of America's Longleaf Pine Restoration Initiative, to restore and maintain this unique ecosystem.

While longleaf pine forests represent some of the world's most unique biologically diverse ecosystems, their range has been reduced by 96 percent. To address this drastic reduction, work is being done to protect, restore and enhance an additional 4.6 million acres of longleaf pine ecosystems in the natural longleaf pine range by 2025.
