Updated Florida Climate Outlook and Precipitation Outlook for Species

The South Florida Ecological Services Office, USFWS, has provided updates on the Climate Outlook for Florida and Precipitation Outlook for Species.

 

Highlights of the updates include:

  • · Weak El Nino expected by Fall 2014 - climate models and ENSO indicators are beginning to back off of an expected moderate El Nino.  Much wetter than average dry season may be in question until indicators and climate models align.
  • · Abnormally Dry conditions in the Florida Panhandle (may be eliminated with recent rains)
  • · July was wetter than normal (117% district average)
  • · 2014 Wet Season is wetter than normal (114% district average)
