Field Assistants Needed for 2013 Florida Grasshopper Sparrow Survey

Field assistants (2-4), (pending funding) needed mid-March through end of June 2013, to conduct surveys and habitat enhancement for the Florida Grasshopper Sparrow (FGSP) at Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park, Okeechobee, Florida. The FGSP is a federally endangered species endemic to the dry prairie region of south-central Florida. Kissimmee Prairie Preserve contains the largest remaining remnant of Florida dry prairie and one of the two remaining populations of the sparrow.…

The Gulf Coast Vulnerability Assessment has Launched!

   On October 29th, an orientation Webex was held for the newly formed Gulf Coast Vulnerability Assessment (GCVA) project teams. The GCVA is a collaborative project led by the four Gulf LCCs and Climate Science Centers, NOAA, and the Gulf of Mexico Alliance. Its goal is to enhance conservation and restoration planning by providing an understanding of the effects of sea level rise and climate change on Gulf of Mexico coastal ecosystems and their species.
